Salutations, I'm Novalaxia. Many of you may know me for my Youtube videos on various aspects of the otaku subculture, or the occasional joke posts I make on "social media" platforms such as Bluesky.

I'm a history graduate (and technically a historian, depending on how you define the credentials of that title) who's had an interest in philosophical & subculture history for over a decade at the time of writing. The primary objective of my work is to provide an approachable angle to areas of historical research that people may find intimidating because of perceived academic rigour, while also presenting an entertaining side to the discipline that many will find tiring to sit through. (I know the feeling all too well.)

Outside of research and article writing, I also engage in a number of various hobbies and activities that may or may not relate to what I cover in my videos and various pieces of writing in my free time. I've been an avid, yet casual competitive player of the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG since 2011, and an invested player of arcade rhythm games, like Sound Voltex, for an equal length of time. I'm also quite invested in doujin music, though my tastes vary from year to year. I wouldn't call myself particularly interesting, though.

How did you get started with Youtube videos?

Dark history. (Got tired of making Yugioh videos, too many creative limitations.)

Are you willing to collab?

I maintain a strict rule not to collaborate with anyone I'm not already acquainted with on some level, either as a friend or associate. No hard feelings - I usually work on a firm schedule, and I would rather not subject anyone unfamiliar to my particular standards with harsh demands from the offset. Sorry about that.

How much time does it take to finish a video project?

Too long. I stop keeping track.
